AS LONG AS the hope we spread is stronger than the fear we face, I will be a feminist.

As part of the exhibition WHEN GESTURE BECOMES EVENT | KO GESTA POSTANE DOGODEK | WENN DIE GESTE ZUM EREIGNIS WIRD which took place in the Austrian-Slovenian year of dialogue 2019/2020, SOLANGE net no. 14, developed for Künsterhaus Wien travelled Ljubljana.

The hope we spread is stronger than the fear we face. While division and separation, the fear sparked by the pandemic and climate change where central themes in 2020, Katharina Cibulka and her team wanted to start the new year with an abundance of hope. Connecting, seeking dialogue, building bridges, expanding horizons as well as talking, listening and answering questions: these are all central aspects of feminist work, of socio-political work.

They are all deeply rooted in Cibulka’s project.

The group exhibition curated by Alenka Gregorič and Felicitas Thun-Hohenstein explored the emancipatory potential of art, how it can function as a platform for solidary practice and the possibilities and unexpected outcomes it creates.
